Hi. My name is Danforth France. I’m a writer, comedian, actor, artist and tend to be very active online. I’ve been blogging since 1997, at least.
My current project is The Jean and Danforth Show, an audio sketch podcast I write and produce with Jean Black. But I’ve done other things too…
I’ve performed standup at the Hollywood Improv, The Comedy Store’s Belly Room, the Friar’s Club, Seattle’s Comedy Underground and so many bars, coffee shops, restaurants, hotel basement lounges and laundromats not worth mentioning. I am so funny I once came in 5th in a standup comedy contest.
After one year of weekly shows as a founding member of The Pretty Okay Ho-hum Spectacular on Ice! (that also hosted Comedy Death Ray once or twice) I trained in sketch/improv at the Groundlings and performed as a member of the Sunday Company in Sunday in the Sky with Diamonds. I also trained at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre where I performed my show A Date with the Four Food Groups and You! and appeared in The Curse of P.P. Fartingham’s Gorilla Suit, Josh Fadem Presents: The Hot Seat w/ Wally George, Exploring the Space and barely participated in The Midnight Show once.
I was a member of Internet video super group The Co-Champions for a time.
I’ve been in a movie called The Aviary and a few commercials (IBM, NFL, Xerox) and have appeared over a dozen times on the G4 network in Attack of the Show, X-Play and other specials. I was honored to do a guest spot on what is arguably the best space opera set in a log cabin (Galaxy Cabin), some of ZZalgern0n’s Stupidface sketches on Fuel TV and also provided voices for Stupidface’s animated cartoon Low Tide and Nature Break, Internet sensation The Mustache Contest and the straight-to-DVD Iggy Cool. I’ve also had guest stunt performer role in the web series The Lone Wolf.
I’ve even done some real theater! Playing Roland Maule in Noel Coward’s Present Laughter and Schroeder in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. I had the line “Farewell, brother!” in a high school performance of Shakepeare’s The Tempest which I delivered with fatalistic aplomb.
As an artist and graphic designer, I’ve made flyers for many comedy shows in the LA area and have had a collage published in Bitch magazine. I’ve worked in the animation department of Metalocalypse, Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! and El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera.
Most recently I co-produced the standup show Komedy in K-Town at R Bar in Los Angeles’ Koreatown region.
I currently living and writing quietly in Glendale with a few house plants and a cross-eyed cat.
